SOLSTICE: Reflections on Winter Light

Eclipse is inspired by the celestial phenomenon of an eclipse, its enormous scale, and the blocking of light which creates its most iconic image. The large ring of sunlight surrounding the moon from edge to edge passes from light, to dark, to light. This artwork focuses on the condition of light at its edge, manifesting an ephemeral threshold from light to dark to light. The artwork invites guests to participate in a moment of solace and passage into an elegant pocket of shadow surrounded by light. Composed of suspended black disc sculpture, a halo of light, a wall of haze, and soundscape with deep visceral tones of the universe, the artwork is an invitation to slow down, meditate, and enwrap yourself within the passage of light and darkness.

The artwork is a part of a collection of work that has been created for the annual event SOLSTICE: Reflections on Winter Light at Mount Auburn Cemetery.
